The Parador of Cardona is one of the oldest paradores, a castle built between 9th and 11th centuries. The castle itself takes one's breath away, occupying a whole hill top looking over the small town below.
How To Get To Cardona
It is worth making the trip if one is visiting Barcelona. Cardona is 85 km from the capital city.
It is possible to go by train. One can take the route R5 of the Ferrocarril at Plaça Espanya and arrives at Manresa. The trip is around one hour and a half, and then from there one would have to take a taxi to the Parador. The distance between them is 35 km. The disadvantage is that one cannot visit nearby attractions conveniently and it is a steep walk from the town up to the parador, although the walk is by no means unpleasant.
